On Wednesday, June 20, in conjunction with Green Chemistry on Tap, NGC will launch the Emerald Corridor Green Chemistry & Engineering Roadmap (2018-2023). The free event will take place from 6:15-8:15 p.m. at Raven and Rose restaurant in the Rookery Bar. Appetizers and drinks will be served!
Over the last few months, NGC has facilitated conference calls and interviews to learn from top experts in the region (and beyond) and answer the question, “How can green chemistry and green engineering help to create resilience in the Emerald Corridor (roughly the region from Portland, OR to Vancouver, BC)?” At this event we will share the community's responses to this question and recommendations for moving forward.
The Emerald Corridor can become a model of how to establish a thriving economy that enhances community, economic, and environmental well-being. Our action-oriented discussions have helped establish what’s necessary to advance green chemistry and engineering in the Pacific Northwest.
The purpose of the Roadmap is to aid communication, coordination, action, and evaluation of green chemistry and engineering initiatives in the region. Some expected outcomes include:
- Improved environmental and human health
- Incentives for innovation
- Creation of local and state policies
- Curricula that incorporates green chemistry and engineering
- More equitable health and social outcomes
- Better educational opportunities
- Professional development opportunities
